Passion on Park Avenue Lauren Layne. An Oprah. For as long as she can remember, Bronx-born Naomi Powell has had one goal: to prove her worth among the Upper East Side elite—the same people for which her mom worked as a housekeeper. Now they find themselves engaged in a battle-of-wills that will either consume or destroy them. She's young, thin, pretty, a recent Columbia graduate, works an easy job at a hip art gallery, lives in an apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan paid for, like the rest of her needs, by her inheritance.
But there is a dark and vacuous hole in her heart, and it isn't just the loss of her parents, or the way her Wall Street boyfriend treats her, or her sadomasochistic relationship with her best friend, Reva. It's the year in a city aglitter with wealth and possibility; what could be so terribly wrong? My Year of Rest and Relaxation is a powerful answer to that question.

Through the story of a year spent under the influence of a truly mad combination of drugs designed to heal our heroine from her alienation from this world, Moshfegh shows us how reasonable, even necessary, alienation can be. Both tender and blackly funny, merciless and compassionate, it is a showcase for the gifts of one of our major writers working at the height of her powers.

No one writes complex, painful family love like Kerry Fisher. Real and raw but funny too. Loved it! Fell in love with the characters, so real and relatable. I enjoyed it from the first page to the last. An excellent read. Kerry Fisher has once again nailed it with this fantastic book about how our lives may not really be as wonderful as we like to present them on social media. It sucked me in from the beginning! Kerry Fisher writes an endearing story about what really happens outside of the photo frame for women who are dealing with the challenges life brings.
A wonderful read. Very well done! The Daughter's Walk Jane Kirkpatrick.
A mother's tragedy, a daughter's desire and the mile journey that changed their lives. Bringing along her nineteen year-old daughter Clara, the two made their way on the mile trek by following the railroad tracks and motivated by the money they needed to save the family farm. After returning home to the Estby farm more than a year later, Clara chose to walk on alone by leaving the family and changing her name.
Her decisions initiated a more than year separation from the only life she had known. What motivated Clara to take such a risk in an era when many women struggled with the issues of rights and independence? And what personal revelations brought Clara to the end of her lonely road? The Daughter's Walk weaves personal history and fiction together to invite readers to consider their own journeys and family separations, to help determine what exile and forgiveness are truly about.
Readers see the times, the motives, the relationships that produce a chain of decisions and actions, all rendered with understatement. This beautiful and compelling work of historical fiction deserves the widest possible audience. Doctor Sleep Stephen King.

Soon to be a major motion picture starring Ewan McGregor! On Turpentine Lane Elinor Lipman. When she finds some mysterious artifacts in the attic of her new home, she wonders whether anything in her life is as it seems. What good fortune, then, that Faith has found a friend in affable, collegial Nick Franconi, officemate par excellence.
Elinor Lipman may well have invented the screwball romantic comedy for our era, and here she is at her sharpest and best. On Turpentine Lane is funny, poignant, and a little bit outrageous. I read it in one day—truly a peak reading experience. Every page was packed with wonders. The Testaments Margaret Atwood. More than fifteen years after the events of The Handmaid's Tale, the theocratic regime of the Republic of Gilead maintains its grip on power, but there are signs it is beginning to rot from within. At this crucial moment, the lives of three radically different women converge, with potentially explosive results.
Two have grown up as part of the first generation to come of age in the new order. The testimonies of these two young women are joined by a third: Aunt Lydia.
Her complex past and uncertain future unfold in surprising and pivotal ways. When his mother was sold away, Hiram was robbed of all memory of her—but was gifted with a mysterious power. Years later, when Hiram almost drowns in a river, that same power saves his life. This is the dramatic story of an atrocity inflicted on generations of women, men, and children—the violent and capricious separation of families—and the war they waged to simply make lives with the people they loved. This is bold, dazzling, and not to be missed. Beautifully written, this is a deeply and soulfully imagined look at slavery and human aspirations.

The Scandal Nicola Marsh. Shiny and pretty on the outside, blurred beyond recognition when shaken. Coffee with her best friends might be the only thing holding Marisa together. But Claire and Elly have their own secrets. She sees herself in Jodi and she knows how devoting yourself to looking after others can take up all your time in the most marvellous way.
Scandal, secrets, lies, murder, mystery, love. You think you have figured out, but do you? I was convinced multiple times that I had it figured out when I never actually did… It will stick with me for a while afterwards and I don't think I've ever read a thriller quite like this one before. The ending was incredible and not what I predicted at all. Highly recommended. Five big stars. Nicola's books are amazing and I can't wait to see what she's brewing up next! I'll take two please! This… I didn't see the ending coming until the moments that it was happening … it was impossible to pick who it could be.
Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend it. It will keep you guessing till the last page and does not disappoint. Really terrific and different from all the other novels… unique and mesmerizing , it had me from the first page, and didn't let go until the last.
